The stage is all set and we are ready to witness the 8th ODI of the Asia Cup 2014. After all the rumors and bad news about the cricketing relations of Pakistan and Bangladesh, the two teams are now set to meet at Mirpur, Dhaka and the match is expected to start at 14:00 GMT. After all the controversies, it’s expected to be yet another thriller in the tournament as Bangladesh will be looking to win both their coming matches to keep themselves alive in the tournament.
Bangladesh have batted with quite a flair throughout the tournament, but it’s their bowlers who are struggling and haven’t been seen in control at any instant throughout the tournament. Though Rubel Hossain, Al-Amin Hossain, Abdur Razzak and Sohag Gazi have bowled well on certain occasions picking up wickets as well, but what they are missing is a match winning performance. If they manage it today, there won’t be any time better to do it. Their batsmen have been getting runs with the likes of Mushfiqur Rahim, Mominul Haque, Anamul Haque and Nasir Hossain. Ziaur Rahman came good against Afghanistan with his all-round performance. If they play like a unit today then they have a great chance to find themselves in the contention to win it.
Pakistan have been wonderful throughout. Though at the start of the tournament they looked a bit flashy, losing the first one and then in the second match against Afghanistan getting 6 out for just 117 runs but since then it’s all good for them. They went on to win the match against Afghanistan with a bonus point and then won a thriller against India. Mohammad Talha has been a wonderful addition in the Pakistani bowling attack and he proved his selection in the pressure game against India picking up 2 for 22. Besides, Umar Gul and Junaid Khan are also bowling well. Considering the many left-handers in Bangladesh lineup, Mohammad Hafeez will have a job at hand today. On the batting front, top four will play a crucial role in the match for Pakistan as they did against India. Mohammad Hafeez, Sohaib Maqsood, Ahmad Shehzad and Sharjeel Khan will be in the spotlight.
