Match Summary:

So, the long awaited CCL 2014 has commenced and we have got the results of the first two games. Here is a brief overview for you to have an insight on how the two games went.

In the first game Mumbai Heroes were up against Chennai Rhinos. Mumbai Heroes were the first to bat after winning the toss and they managed to put up a good score on a wicket that seemed to be a good batting track. There were quite a few contributions but the highlight of their innings was the knock from ever adorable Aftab Shivdasani who played a brilliant hand of 79 on just 60 balls. He smacked six boundaries and four huge sixes to reach this mark. He looked elegant most of the time and proved to be a hard pill to swallow for the Rhinos’ bowling attack. Besides Aftab, Sameer Kochhar and Raja Bherwani also chipped in with almost run-a-ball 31 and 22 respectively. These were the major partnerships in the innings of Heroes and they managed to take the team’s total to 165 for the loss of five wickets in their allotted quota of 20 overs.

On the bowling front, only Vishal proved to be dangerous who managed to pick up three wickets for just 21 runs in his three overs’ spell.

When Rhinos came on to bat, they had a reasonable target in front of them which they managed to easily catch up to by building some good partnerships. Every one chipped in with 20s and 30s and in the end Prithivi and Sharan managed to take their side home by scoring 28* and 47* respectively on the second last ball of the game.

Badola was impressive with the ball for Mumbai Heroes and took 2 for 22 in his four overs. No other bowler could make a real impact on the game. But, we had a thriller in the very first game of the league, nonetheless.

2nd Match: Bhojpuri Dabanggs vs Veer Marathi

The last game of Day 1 in CCL 4 was played between Bhojpuri Dabanggs vs Veer Marathi at the same venue. Bhjpuri Dabanggs won the toss and opted to bat first. PL Yadav smashed a blazing innings of 77 runs off 49 balls. Yadav innings was included 6 huge sixes.

Another amazing innings was played by U. Tiwary who scored brilliant 93 runs off 40 balls. His innings consists of 5 sixes and 11 fours.

The second game for the day belonged to Bhojpuri Dabanggs right from the first ball. Dabanggs won the toss and elected to bat first. Pravesh Yadav and Uday Tiwari played a golden hand in the very first game of the season and smacked 77 and 93* hitting 6 and 5 sixes respectively. They just lost three wickets and managed to put up a gigantic total of 230 runs ahead of the Veer Marathi. In fact, they couldn’t have expected a better start to the tournament.

Veer Marathi bowlers had a nightmare day with Chaudhary being the most expensive bowler who conceded 51 runs in his four overs. Kelkar and Dhudwadkar were also expensive. But Lashkaria was impressive with the ball and took 2 for 21 in his 4 overs.

When Veer Marathi came out to bat they didn’t have a most desirable start to the huge run chase and lost both their openers inside first two overs. Though, Biddvai Dhudwadkar showed some resistance with the bat managing 36 and 39 respectively but that was certainly not the kind of score needed to successfully chase down 230 runs’ huge target and the Veer Marathi could only manage 151 in their 20 overs.

Jay Yadav took 3 for 29 in his 3 overs for Dabanggs and Tiwari and Vikrant Singh contributed with 2 wickets each.

The match became one sided ever since Veer Marathi conceded a huge total.
