India vs Bangladesh 2nd Match:

India had a really tough last few months as they struggled in all three departments of the game. After getting clean sweep in the ODIs, they are now ready to take on Bangladesh in the 2nd Match of Asia Cup 2014.

  • Bangladesh: L L L W W
  • India: L L T L L

So on the lighter note, this is yet another chance to become winner of ‘Catch a Million’ campaign that started by TUI and this campaign is now extended to first two catchers.

Fast and bouncy pitches, biting cold and strong winds are all set to spice things up for the India versus New Zealand series. Both teams came into the tournament, looking to launch their bids for the world cup, which is just a year away, by series win of their opponent. So far Kiwis have taken the lead in a nail biter and will be hoping to cement their lead in the upcoming matches. The current series being hosted by New Zealand consists of five one-day internationals and two test matches. The series began on the nineteenth of January, with one day international fixture in which Bangladesh grabbed convincing win over team India.

With this series team, India begins its first calendar year of cricket without perhaps the greatest batsmen the world of cricket has ever seen, yes after a very long time team India is playing without Sachin Tendulkar. India began this series to continue their fine form, however, that fine form only restricted to their home ground. India’s team has recently been accused of being unable to perform at pacey tracks of Australia, England and South Africa. They are now looking to silence the critics about the upcoming 2014 Asia cup and 2014 T-Twenty world cup.

Bangladesh, will be hoping to use this series as a platform to rocket back into the top half of the table and to calm the edgy nerves in the management. Their fans and management both have been on the edge as Kiwis do not seem more like a dinosaur, a blast from the past, with every given series their previous flair fading away. So an opening win at Napier should have come as a welcome surprise for their fans, who will be hoping that their team can carry this fine form throughout the series. The win should have also calmed a few nerves in the dressing room.

Despite being hit by injuries, the Kiwi pace attack seems likely to trouble Indi’s top batsmen as was evident in the first one day international. Kiwi pacers have formulated a new strategy to deal with this titan, which boasts of the likes of; Kohili, Rohit Sharm, Raina and of course their skipper MSD. In the last calendar year, with or without the little master, these new little masters have set record after record scores and have amassed huge totals. Let’s not forget they have chased huge totals. More or less they decimated each and every pace attack, leaving India’s bowlers with very little to do. However, In New Zealand, the pitch is alive, and it has got teeth of its own, these pitches can make ordinary bowlers look like Wasim and Dennis, just imagine the damage these talent Kiwi boys can do.

However, the Kiwis will miss Adam Milne, but Mitchel and Bennet paired up just fine in the first one day. Ross Taylor gives them another dimension with his spin, as the ball tends to nib back in faster and turn. We are hoping for a spectacular series; there should be blood, sweat, tears. Now is the time for either of these teams to get into gear, or dust of the cobwebs, if a new talent needs be found or inculcated into the team now is the time.

India Squad:

M.S. Dhoni*†, R. Ashwin, S. Dhawan, R.A. Jadeja, Zaheer Khan, Virat Kohli, B. Kumar, Mohammed Shami, IC Pandey, CA Pujara, AM Rahane, AT Rayudu, WP Saha, Ishant Sharma, RG Sharma, M Vijay, UT Yadav

India want to come out of dark ages in foreign tours that was started in series against South Africa. South Africa thrashed world no 1 team South Africa with quick wins of 3-0 in ODIs and 1-0 in test series. Indian top class batting failed to impress in any format of the game against South Africa so they are looking keenly at the series against New Zealand where they will play 5 ODIs and 2 test matches from 19th January to 18th February 2014.

India are now looking to bounce back strongly against Bangladesh in ODI series to forget bad patch of cricket they shown against South Africa. MS Dhoni shown confidence on his team and didn’t allow selectors to make many changes to the squad. He said that combination is good and we dont want to experiment much.

Bangladesh Squad:

Mushfiqur Rahim*†, Abdur Razzak, Mominul Haque, Al-Amin Hossain, Nasir Hossain, Anamul Haque, Arafat Sunny, Imrul Kayes, Mashrafe Mortaza, Naeem Islam, Rubel Hossain, Shamsur Rahman, Shakib Al Hasan, Sohag Gazi, Ziaur Rahman

Bangladesh have emerged as strong batting line up and brute attack of bowling in last year specially in the series against West Indies last month. Though West Indies side was average but Bangladesh were beautifully not only tackled them but won all formats of the game and special thing was fastest ODI hundred by Bangladesh batsman. India are different opponent than West Indies so we can expect to watch something really exciting this time.
